Did somebody punch me in the mouth?

Since yesterday afternoon I have felt like someone punched me in the mouth. The first few days after the procedure I didn't really feel any pain at all. The vicoden is helping a little but I only have 3 left.

Today is my Birthday. Ya me.

Birthday

You know you have had a busy few days when you don't realize it's your Birthday tomorrow.

My Brother-n-law and Sister-in-law came for a visit this weekend.. So much fun.

When they were leaving they said have a great Birthday tomorrow. I thought I had a few more days.

So tomorrow is my Birthday... Happy Birthday to me.

Update: Karson is doing well with the bottle..

Hungry

When I had Karson I just planned on doing the same things as I did for Kaden. Kaden was a very good eater. From the start I nursed him and also supplimented bottles. Kaden was fine with both and at 6 months I stoped nursing all together. When Karson was born I had all the bottles sterilized and ready, but Karson came out a natural nurser.

I am not against bottle feeding at all. Karson had trouble from the start. He couldn't keep formula down and at two weeks would not take a bottle at all. I have been trying about once a week to feed him a bottle but decided to be a full-time nursing Mom. It has been very easy for me. Karsee is laid back and now has a predictable schedule. If I am going anywhere I just nurse him before we leave and he goes about 4 hours between feedings.

Yesterday after my dental procedure I just didn't feel right about feeding Karsee till I talked to his doctor about the three medicines I am taking. I am glad I went with that feeling because after speeking with his doctor I found out 2 out of the 3 medicines were not safe. I cannot nurse for 5 days.

So here is the plan. Try feeding Karson an ounce every hour in a bottle and pump every 3-4 hours.

For about 6 hours yesterday I tried every bottle we own. He would cry a little and then give up and go to sleep. At around 7pm it had been 11 hours since he last ate and Tim came in and just tried with me out of sight and he started eating and gulped down about 4oz. I finally felt that everything would be ok and my baby will not starve for 5 days.

Then 10pm rolled around and he was tired and hungry and did not understand why all this was going on. He cried and cried till he gave up and went to sleep. He ate a little last night but didn't rest well. Also the getting up and makeing a bottle is not something I am used to doing.

So this morning he is finally resting and we are close to getting this bottle feeding thing down.

I hate my mouth being propt open and the shots.

I just keep telling myself it is only 2 hours. But it is not helping.

I should not of watched the video on youtube of what I am getting done.

Doctor's Office and Tomorrow

This morning we had Karsee's four month check up. That's when I got the news that the little rash I have been treating with desitin is a yeast infection. The Doctor said this is very common and was caused by the medicine Karson took for his ear infection. Karson also had his vaccinations. Three shots and a roto virus vaccine by mouth. Owe what fun.

Karson did well with the shots. Once he ate he calmed down and we left. He slept all afternoon. About 5:30pm I woke him up to eat before we left to meet Tim for dinner and Church. He felt very hot and was really fussy.

When I took his temperature it was 102.

After a few hours of worrying and getting the fever down I called the doctor. I was told this happens to babies sometimes and what to watch for.

When I was on the phone I realized I may have over done it this week. Because tomorrow I am going in for a dental procedure in the morning.

I am getting everything ready tonight for tomorrow morning but I am feeling bad about leaving Karsee tomorrow when he feels so bad.

So Proud

Today Kaden had his first Starbucks. Don't worry everyone it wasn't caffeinated. He walked up to the counter and asked if he could have a pink drink. Which means a strawberries and cream frappe. They asked him his name and wrote it on the cup. When they called his name when it was ready the look on his face was priceless.

I am getting ready to feed Karsee cereal for the first time tonight. I put him in the highchair for the first time.

Movie Night

Last night we had movie night. Kaden and I went to Hastings yesterday which is a book/movie/rental store all in one. He spent an hour just in the childrens area looking at books at there table and then he picked out a movie.

When we got home we made cookies, popped popcorn. We also made a pallet on the floor. Which Kaden calls a camp out.

Kaden loved it.

After four months I can say Karsons room is finished. I finished his shelf this week.

Some Of My Favorite Things

In the midst of mothering and the business of life I like to think about some of my favorite things about my boys.

Kaden
1. Every hug and a kiss.

2. He says " your my favorite Mommy in the whole wide world".

3. His dances and songs.

4. I like to watch him sleep.

5. The way he says Chick-fil-a. " Chick-da-fay"

6. His answer to my question " Where does Jesus live"? He answers "in my heart".

7. His laugh.

8. When he wakes up from a nap the first thing he says is " I had a good nap".

9. The love he has for his Daddy. He wants to be just like him.

10. His excitement ...

Karson
1. When he catches me in his sight and gives me the biggest smile.

2. The love he has for Kaden even at such a young age.

3. His love for his beary. He actually gives him a hug and smiles every time he sees his little bear.

4. The way he holds on to something when he sleeps.

5. When he lets me rock him to sleep.

6. When he is really tired and pokes his lip out and just looks at me till he doses off.

7. His laugh

8. The way he sleeps.

9. The way he sits right by Tim and watches what ever his Daddy is doing. He is happy just to be there with him.

10. Listening to his baby noises.

Nasty Pancakes

When Kaden woke up this morning I think he knew it was Friday. We have kinda started a tradition of breakfast Friday where Tim or I makes breakfast. The other day I made french toast and Kaden ate them but this morning I got an honest opinion of that breakfast.

Kaden said

"can you please make me some pancakes but not the nasty pancakes you made the other day"

Update

This afternoon Karson was tired and didn't want me to rock him to sleep. I took him to his bed turned on the aquarium and he went right to sleep.

We are progressing fast.

It's a process

From Friday February 29, 2008
Number 14. Get Karson to sleep in his own bed.
He does not like his bed one bit. This does not mean he is not a great sleeper, he takes two good naps a day and has been sleeping through the night for over a month now. Just not in his bed. So when he was ready for his morning nap I rocked him to sleep and layed him in his bed. His eyes popped open wide and then the lip came out and he started crying. So I had a plan. It doesn't take him long to go back to sleep. I will just keep rocking him to sleep and lay him down and he will eventually be so tired he will take a nap in the bed. Let me just say I didn't get to check this one off the list today.

New post:
I decided a few weeks ago that this week with Tim out of town I would start trying to get Karson to sleep in his bed. He loves to sleep in his carrier. He will sleep all night in his carrier.

Yesterday I waited till he was tired and then took him to his bed, turned on the aquarium, and layed him down. He just made a few fussy noises and went to sleep. Now he only slept for 30 min. but I do believe you have to start somewhere.

So this morning around 10am which is the time I want his morning nap to be I did the same thing. He fussed but didn't cry for a little bit and after 5 min. I went in and checked on him and talked to him. He just played and again went to sleep.

I think this will be a process for Karson. Once I get him used to taking his morning nap in his bed I will add his afternoon nap and once we have that down I will add night time.

Missing Tim

It's 10:00pm and the boys are asleep. The house is so quite.

I miss Tim.

DPS

My drivers license expires this month and I went to renew it today. I took Kaden and Karson with me.

I have planned this a little bit because I want a new picture.

My last few pictures have not been very good. The worst one ever was the one that I looked like a cast member of Hairspray the musical.

When we got there the line was to the door. I waited in line an hour and I think someone cut in front of me. The boys did great until we got to the front of the line. Kaden wanted to see everything that was going on. I had to get my picture taken two times because Kaden came over and leaned against me and moved me off the line.

I hope it turns out to be a good picture.

2 Night

I spoke tonight at our Womans Ministry meeting. I didn't get nervous till I got there. I think it went well. Tim watched the boys and they were so happy about spending time with there Daddy.

Only in Texas

I'm a Texas girl so I think I am allowed to make fun of stuff Texans do. On Saturday on the way back from the zoo. We stoped at a gas station/sonic/smoke house. In front of the place was what we think was a family. They sang and did little commercials. I had to take a picture.

Speaking

Tonight I gave Karson his last dose of his ear infection medicine. I have been giving him a dose twice a day for a week.

Tomorrow night I am speaking in our Womans Ministry Group. I am not a speaker and I tend to be shy so this is a stretch for me.

The Zoo

We went to the Caldwell Zoo yesterday. So much fun!!! See the video below.

So we get there and Kaden gets a map and starts pointing at it and saying he wants to see the Bongo's. I kept correcting him and telling him that there is not an animal named the Bongo and we would not see any.

We go to the Africa exhibit and we see....

This is a Bongo.

I had to apologize to my 3 year old. Who is smarter than me.

Check out the video. I am going to try to have one of these every week.

I will come clean.

Today was good I ran errands with the boys this morning and met up with Tim after his golf game at El Sombrero. They have an Alcapoco cheese steak that is so good. My Favorite.

This afternoon my boy's naped at the same time. I caught up on some house work and then after dinner I went to Walmart for some snacks for our trip to the zoo tomorrow.

I have learned that most melt downs with Kaden is just a need for a snack or drink. So for our trip to the Tyler Zoo tomorrow I am not going to be caught without snacks. I usually keep something in my purse at all times.

So I will come clean or Tim will tell on me. So I blogged yesterday about change and these new reusuable bags. I took a different vehicle than I usually do to the store and forgot the bags in the other car. So I relapsed back to plastic tonight.

2Day

Karson is doing much better. No drives today. Except I have put him to sleep 3 times tonight and he has woken up. So right now he is in his swing trying to go to sleep. Bad Mommy moment I know. I have found if I turn all the lights off and put him in his swing he will go right to sleep.

#18 on my 2008 list is recycle and do things that are better for the enviroment. So the other day I bought a little bin to recycle and bought the energy efficient light bulbs and this week I took it to a new level. I bought those reusuable shoping bags.

What do you say?

About a month ago I went through the boys rooms and got rid of some cloths, shoes, and TOYS. Kaden had so many toys we didn't have a place for some of it. So I only got rid of the stuff he didn't really play with or had out grown.

This morning Kaden came to me and asked where snort was. I got rid of it. So I told him I couldn't find it at the moment. I didn't know what to say.

The good news is, its in the stuff for the garage sale so when I start pricing everything in a couple of weeks I can just get it out for him. But honestly he hasn't played with it in months.

Question of the day..
What do you tell your kids when they ask for something you have gotten rid of?

Somethings got to give...

I got a few things done around the house today between the picnic and our sick little Karsee ...

Well around 5pm it all went down hill. Karsee was tired and I couldn't get him to sleep or eat.. So I left a hot dinner on the stove and in the car we went. Karsee was asleep by the end of the road and slept till about 8:30pm..

At 10:30pm Karsee was ready for bed and once again I couldn't get him to sleep. Tried all the tricks.

We just got back from our second drive of the day. Kaden has been in bed for 2 1/2 hours and is still not asleep.

My Nanny always says when your kids are sick its ok to let the house go a little..

Somethings got to give and tonight its the housework. It will be there tomorrow.

Goodnight my pillow is calling me.

A Picnic

Yesterday Kaden was helping me get our highchair out of the storage building and we found a picnic basket. Kaden played with it for the rest of the day and right before he went to bed he asked if we could have a picnic.

First thing this morning he reminded me about the picnic. So at lunch time we packed the picnic basket and a blanket and went out to the garage due to the weather.

He also invited his friends. Lightening Mcqueen, Luigi, and Burrito.

Kaden went to get his camera and said "I want to take a picture for my blog to show all my friends".

Breakfast

This morning while Kaden and I were eating breakfast. I was holding Karson and talking to him..

Kaden looked at me and said " this is family time not Karson time".. My heart sunk. I think I need to spend a little one on one time with Kaden.

The Doctor

Tim was right..... Karson has a ear infection. I was in denial. We gave him his medicine and he is finally sleeping.

I think I should be sleeping right now.

Heading to the Doctor

We are heading to the doctor's office. Karson is just not himself. Woke up every two hours last night.

Had a iced vanilla latte this morning to get me through the day.

Cranky Baby

So for the past few days Karson has not been himself. I had to drive around at 11pm tonight just to calm him down. He isn't eating or sleeping well. He either has an ear infection or teething. We might have to go to the doctor tomorrow.

Catching Up

Since Tuesday I have done alot of laundry and some spring cleaning and organizing. Karson has been really fussy. Waking up every 2 hours at night and not eating much. So I have been a little tired the last few days. I learned that Karson actually likes a pacifier.

Look how cute he is. He will be 4 months old tomorrow.

This morning I was awakened by Kaden and Tim with breakfast in bed. It was so nice..

I did so much over Spring Break, Easter, and our mini vacation.. So instead of giving every detail I just made a slide show.. This is my first, but I have to admit Tim helped me finish it.

I'M HOME

I left Easter Sunday for Dallas and came home yesterday.. I'm happy to be home. I missed my bed.
